One Layout. Twenty kits.

Every kit in this pack uses the same sixteen pads in the same order. Kick bottom left, where your hand already rests. Snare next to it. Closed hats through the middle. Cymbals up top, with the shaker, bongo and conga together on the percussion pads.

Pads 1 and 5 are both the kick. Pads 2 and 6 are both the snare. That duplication is deliberate. A fast roll on a single pad runs into the limit of one finger, but spread across two pads you alternate fingers and it stays even. It is the same reason a drummer holds two sticks.

Swap from Amber to Vibe and nothing moves. The pads recolour, the sound changes, your hands carry on. Learn the layout once and it works across all twenty.

Built for the Pads

Already Mapped

Sixteen pads, laid out the way finger drummers actually play. Kick bottom-left where your hand already is, snare beside it, closed hats through the middle. A second kick and snare sit directly above, so fast rolls are played with alternating fingers. The shaker, bongo and conga sit together on the percussion pads, ready for the swing that makes house move.

Colour-Coded

Red kicks, yellow snares and claps, brown hats and cymbals, blue percussion. Akai's own scheme, applied identically across all twenty kits. Swap kit and the pads recolour to the same map, so nothing has to be relearned. Open hats ring rather than choke, the way house wants them.

Two Editions

Standard runs at 44.1kHz/16-bit, matching the MPC's internal engine, and is the smaller download. Studio runs at 48kHz/24-bit, the original source resolution. Both contain the same twenty kits. Install one, not both.

Will these load on my MPC?

Yes, if your MPC is a standalone unit running MPC 3 firmware (v3.x). That covers the MPC Live, MPC Live II, MPC One, MPC One+, MPC X, MPC X SE, MPC Key 61 and MPC Key 37. We built and tested this on an MPC Live 3.

It will not load on MPC 2.x firmware, on MPC Beats, or in the MPC Software 2.15 desktop app. It does load in the MPC 3 Desktop software, although that is currently a public beta.

Which edition should I install, Standard or Studio?

Both downloads contain the same twenty kits. The only difference is audio resolution. Standard (44.1kHz/16-bit) matches the MPC's internal engine and is the right choice for most people. Studio (48kHz/24-bit) is the original source resolution for maximum headroom.

Install one, not both, or you will see two near-identical expansions in your browser. If you are not sure, use Standard.

Do I have to map or level anything?

No. That is the whole point. Every kit is already mapped to the pads, colour-coded by drum type and levelled, with a preview rendered for each one. You load a kit and play it.

Can I use these in tracks I release and sell?

Yes. Everything is 100% royalty-free for commercial releases. Make music, release it, keep what you earn.

What is on the pads?

Sixteen pads per kit on a finger-drumming layout. Kick and snare sit bottom-left and are doubled directly above for rolls. Closed and open hats, ride and crash, a shaker, and a bongo and conga on the percussion pads. The same layout and colours across all twenty kits.

Are these the same sounds as the free S950 House Drums pack?

Yes, and you can download those sounds for nothing. What you are buying here is the format. Twenty kits already built, mapped, colour-coded and previewed on your pads, so you load and play instead of spending an evening building kits by hand.
